Home of soulful live music by American singer Brian Hooper. At Brian4Music Okinawa, I blend classic rock covers and my original songs.

Hi, I’m Brian — a singer, songwriter, and musician with roots in Detroit, years of experience in L.A.’s music scene, and many years performing in the Tokyo and Kanagawa area. Now, a new chapter is unfolding here in Okinawa, Japan.

After stepping away from live performance to focus on my English school — and navigating the challenges of the pandemic — I’m returning to what I love most: performing soulful music live.

I blend classic rock, acoustic and piano arrangements, and original songs — often using backing tracks I create in my home studio.

Whether it’s at a local event or a live house, I perform with a simple purpose: to share music I love — from my sound to your soul.

👤 More About Brian

I grew up near Detroit, Michigan, and moved to Los Angeles at 21. After playing in bands and working various jobs, I started a long career at Roland Corporation — makers of professional instruments and recording gear — where I spent 18 years immersed in MIDI, synthesizers, and studio production. That laid the foundation for much of what I do today.

I met my wife, originally from Okinawa, while in L.A. After she returned to Japan, we maintained a long-distance relationship until I left California, sold my house, and moved to Japan to marry her.

In my early years in Japan, I played live at venues, festivals, events, and even weddings. I’ve always loved “Classic Rock” — performing music by The Beatles, Eric Clapton, Sting, Billy Joel, and many others, alongside my own original songs.

Later, I founded and ran an English conversation school in the Tokyo area for 17 years. I retired from teaching in 2023, moved to Okinawa with my wife, and built a recording/video studio in our newly renovated home.

Due to my school obligations and the pandemic, it’s been several years since I performed live — but I’ve been working hard, getting everything in place to return to the stage and pursue what I love.

For me, it’s about reconnecting with my passion and sharing that with people who appreciate heartfelt music. I’m excited to start again and hope you’ll be part of the journey — whether by coming to a show or supporting me online.
